Easy Server Monitor Complete - FAQ
I want to monitor my servers, such as email, database, and file servers. Will this program do that?
Yes! Easy Server Monitor Complete is designed to monitor just the types of servers above. Email, database, and other important business programs typically use either "services" or "processes" to execute. ESMC presents you with a list of the services and processes that are running on your servers, and will then constantly monitor the services you choose in the background. Using SQL Server? Monitor the MSSQLSERVER service! Using MySQL? It can monitor either the mysqld process, or the MySQL service installed on your servers.
Can I monitor my file servers?
ESMC will monitor the hard drives on your file servers in a snap. Connect to the server remotely, and it will present a list of all volumes that are available on that server. Choose the ones you are interested in monitoring, and it will do the rest!
What Does This Program Do?
This program makes it as easy as point-and-click to monitor every server and desktop in your organization, all at once. As an administrator, you are responsible for the efficient operations of your organization. This program will help you get a complete picture of the overall health of every server or desktop in your company.
Easily look and see if any hard disks are being filled up, if any important programs have stopped running. This program puts all of that important information right at your fingertips!
What Would I Want To Monitor?
The hard disks on your company's file servers more than likely have tremendous amounts of space to save files, but that space still is limited. If you do not manually check the servers every day, they can slowly fill up without your knowing about it. Avoid the problems that would be caused if you ran out of storage space by knowing constantly how much space your servers have available.
Important services such as SQL databases, paging programs, and financial management programs can crash out and fail. Instead of having a user call your office and complain about not be able to access an important business program, you can immediately know when they fail by receiving email alerts!
I Keep Getting Error Alerts Even When Things Show Up Normal. What's Up With That?
Usually this is due to the fact that you have the program running as a background service, but have not configured credentials for each server. When running on the desktop, that may work fine because you are logged in as an administrator for your domain. However, the service logs in as "Local Service" which cannot connect to the other computers. The easy way to fix this is to give each server credentials in the server manager.
